A New Beginning

They reminded me of the umpteen mistakes I have made-
the hurt I have caused by calling a spade a spade!

They pointed out my incomplete tasks & what's to be accomplished,
and also that things this year have not turned out the way I wished...

They kept on criticizing while I listened with a grave face,
and they made me feel guilty & dejected as if I have lost the race!

I was jolly & tried my best to cheerily alleviate my Spirit & Conscience's stress!

Dear Spirit & Conscience, Kindly note- the old year passes, I'm eager to begin afresh!

Note-
In the poem,"They" = My Spirit & Conscience!
Let us not be self-critical. Best wishes for a new beginning!
Happy New Year to all!

  10. Anita you make a very good point in here, we tend to listen to all those negative things in our hearts and heads, and never take note of all the things we can and did do well. We have much to feel accomplished for, and we have grown and learned from the things that didn't work out well. Each year we should look forward to starting over with a clean page to write our lives upon. I have no doubt you will achieve many wonderful things, thinking positive is the right beginning! Happy New Year to you!
