National Handloom Awards 2023

September 20 is celebrated as "Silk Day".

Today we are also celebrating- Nuakhai- an important harvest festival of Odisha.

It's an important day for our rich handlooms & talented weavers.

This blog post has reference to the "National Handloom Awards" for this year (& some previous years) that are yet to be held.

Thanks to Ministry of Textiles initiative for the first National Handloom Day on 7th August 2015.

National Handloom Awards were handed over.

Handloom-weaving community felt honoured.

Contribution of this sector in the socio-economic development of our nation is immense. #MyHandloomMyPride

National Handloom Day is over on August 7th this year.

But, Awards were not handed over to weavers.

Notification for the National Handloom Awards (NHA) 2023 application/submission is not published as yet.

I had first shared about this issue 2 months ago- registration number: PMOPG/E/2023/0135449.

http://www.anitaexplorer.com/2023/07/letter-for-national-handloom-awards.html

However, date for this year's NHA is still not out.

As per reply received on 26.07.2023, NHA dates & details would be shared after guidelines are set.

Interested weavers are still asking- When will they get notification for National Handloom Awards?

Our weavers have spent a lot of time and effort & invested resources for creating unique designs.

Those prized pieces are still waiting to be sent for NHA consideration.

Once a piece is woven for Award, weaver cannot showcase or sell that.

Money is blocked.

As NHA haven't been held for past 2-3 years, many pieces are lying.

There's loss of morale & patience.

Textile ministry should announce submission dates & details soon so that the weavers can apply.

This month, the NHA application process should be published.

Requesting completion of all pending NHA ceremonies before end of this year- 2023.

Target must be to hand over National Handloom Awards for year 2024 on the National Handloom Day 2024.

Those Blue Letters

Woh Neeli Chitthiyaan - Those Blue Letters

Hindi and English

Dedicated to “Inland Letter”

Poem in Hindi - Received via WhatsApp

Woh Neeli Chitthiyaan

Dream For A Swachh Bharat #BlogToPM

Dear PM Modiji,

I truly appreciate all the steps you have taken to ensure #SwachhBharat.
However, I am afraid the following need urgent attention:

Dust-bins Usage
The installed dust-bins with 'Wet' & 'Dry' bins are not solving their purpose as people still prefer to dump their garbage on the road and other places excluding the dust-bin...

Toilets
Many public places are yet to have proper toilet facilities for the convenience of all. Can we ensure well-maintained and clean toilets at least in the heritage and other important tourist sites to start with?
Despite toilets in their homes/locality, some citizens prefer not to use them.

Garbage in the minds, hearts & deeds
We can install dust-bins and can construct toilets, but how to remove the garbage in the minds, hearts and deeds of our society?
Evil intentions and actions such as corruption, bribery, cheating, stealing, misbehaviour, littering, spitting, molestations, rapes etc. are enemies of development and show our nation in poor light.
Why do the culprits, who indulge in these acts, walk away scot-free?
They should be penalised and jailed. Bail should be denied to them.
Why are the victims targeted and made scapegoats of the society?

If people are heavily punished after being caught red-handed or when proven guilty for such acts, they will be deterred to act/behave so and crimes will reduce.

Could we please introduce & demand hefty "fine" or penalty from those who spit, urinate, litter on the roads and those who bribe, cheat, steal etc.?
Many nations already have such laws and strict enforcement too to uphold the same.
Public can be encouraged to click pictures of those they catch in the act and name and shame such people.
That should help ensure a truly #SwachhBharat for all of us.

Thank you for your consideration,
Jai Hind!
-A proud Indian & Dreamer of #SwachhBharat

Mysterious Packages

This post has been published by me as a part of the Blog-a-Ton 52; the fifty-second edition of the online marathon of Bloggers; where we decide and we write. In association with Metro Diaries by "Namrata". To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton.
She was surprised to receive a surprise package that had a gadget-like item inscribed with text she had no clue about.

When she received some more of that electronic stuff, she reported and handed those over to the police and detectives for investigation.

Later that week, when mysterious flying objects were spotted in the sky, she was reported missing along with the packages- they seemed to have vanished without a trace.

Monkey Business

Writer's Ezine Anniversary Issue- April 2015
HE was always larger than life for her.
HE was the one she could remember.
She loved HIM passionately since inception.
Complete surrender & faith; no question.

She wrote letters to HIM every time,
Creatively expressing in prose/rhyme,
When life sprung up marvels or surprises,
When she earned brickbats or won prizes.

Those letters she didn't know where to post.
No idea about the address of her dost!
As many homes were HIS abode,
Which path to travel, the right road?

She was wondering about HIM that morn,
Philosophically thinking why she was born.
A group of monkeys appeared out of nowhere.
They started screeching with crazy antics there.

Letter To Mom This Diwali

Dear Mom, I miss you so much...what to say?
Though God has invited you to His heavenly abode,
I have your memories that dazzle everyday.
Distance may separate, but feelings won't erode...
