Favorite Playthings- Puppets

Puppets of different shapes & sizes- His creations were His favorite playthings,

He was in charge of their destinies- whether they'll be grounded or have wings...

He pulled the strings as per His wish & the puppets danced to His music.

He planned their life in much detail- even partners in marriage were His pick...

The puppets prayed to get lucky in the drawing & to earn God's blessings!

Note: He = God
There's a famous dialogue in a Hindi Movie, Anand- "We are all like a theatre's puppets, whose strings are tied up in the fingers of God."

I feel so too. Whether we think or not think that we are puppets, we still are...

    1. Thanks for sharing this deep thought, Brian.
There are 2 ways we can ponder about this-
      1. Either we think we are puppets & resign to fate
      2. Or think we are thinkers/creators & write our own destiny & create fate.

  4. I really enjoyed this interesting take on the prompt. Although I see your poem is about the fingers of God, it read well for me as a description of the joy any child gets playing with puppets or dolls or little plastic figures. Nice one!

    1. Thanks Peggy! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Even I thought the same. It's so true. The note gives a different meaning.
Kids actually play with their toys that way, name them, get them married etc :)

  7. I do hope we are not puppets of God. Otherwise I think life would lose some of its meaning, if I thought it was all planned out ahead by some master planner. I'd rather think of people as having choices. I guess someday we will all fine out!

    1. True Mary. One day we'll hopefully know...
Puppets, destiny, karma etc many concepts are there.
      But, God is the creator.
It's said that not even a leaf stirs without His consent...

  9. "His creations were His favorite playthings"...how true this is!!!...when we are creators like children, artists, poets or even God our creations do become our playthings....nice thought provoking lines Anita :)

  10. We will know if we are mere puppets or not if we get to see the script of the past. Then we can compare the notes, right. ;) God does have a say in everything we do but I think so do we. Otherwise, how can we explain the evil in the world! And many times we do feel God is doing injustice, you know all those stuff. I think it's His half and Our half. Nicely expressed, Anita. :)
