Earth Day In Bhubaneswar

Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 every year.
The whole idea is to become conscious and take care of our planet. Of course, we must do this every day and not simply dedicate one hour or one day as Earth Hour or Earth Day... Nevertheless, such initiatives are important to create the necessary awareness and action.

Last year, on April 22 2018, we had a great Earth Day celebration in my locality in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India.
The venue was- 'Amrut Vatika', a garden near IMFA Park, in Sahid-Nagar, Bhubaneswar. This was in collaboration with an NGO named 'Jeevan Rekha Parishad' and 'Kitchen Gardeners Association'.

There were posters with 'Go Green' and 'Save Trees' etc. messages that the school students displayed.
Foreign delegates were present along with local citizens.

Volunteers expressed their creativity by painting on walls.

We offered prayer to Mother Earth.
There was music and a 'Save Planet Earth' song.

Plant-lovers gave talks about prevention of pollution and how to be an eco-friendly citizen.
Saplings were distributed to all.
We then posed for the group photographs.
(You can spot me in the pic below- I am the one dressed in black with a tree and Buddha painting on my dress.)
I had received an apt message this April 1st-
Instead of making "April Fool" on 1st April, plant at least one tree and make "April Cool".
April 22nd is a special day for our planet. High time we start treating our planet with care every day.
Can we have a pollution-free world? What are we doing to save our Planet Earth?
