At Home

The four friends hugged together.

“We’ll succeed in our mission for our home, won’t we?”

“There's a place in Heaven for us, isn’t it?”

Those threat-mails filled with expletives made her sick,
She had done nothing to deserve this & to be the pick.

Birds Of A Feather

"Do Without Make-up" was her Mantra as she never used make-up thereby allowing several cosmetics & beauty-products that she had been gifted or she had won as prizes, to languish in her drawer unused, leave alone getting worn out from overuse!

The Greatest Love Of All

There were two brothers- Subu & Kubu. While Subu was goodhearted, Kubu was cunning.

When their father passed away, Subu got an old-trunk as inheritance while Kubu got the whole house & property. Kubu laughingly took over everything, complying with his father’s desire about the trunk to be gifted to Subu.

United We Stand

N, E, W & S were four senior women who belonged to the four parts of India- North, East, West & South respectively, but stayed in the same neighborhood in a cosmopolitan city in Central India.
The four were best-friends, who had many points in common –

  • Their husbands worked in the same office
  • Each of them had 1 son & 1 daughter
  • Each of them had 1 Daughter-in-law (DIL)
  • Each of them loved watching daily soaps- Saas-Bahu TV-serials.
  • Each of them loved kitty-parties & planned a monthly party at one of their homes
  • They gossiped about their DILs- How their DILs were never good at whatever they did and how their daughters were better.
They decided to celebrate this month’s party at E’s place on 8th March – International Women’s Day (IWD).

N, E, W & S were four young women who belonged to the four parts of India- North, East, West & South respectively, but stayed in the same neighborhood.
The four were best-friends, who had many points in common –
  • Their Mothers-in-law (MIL) were best-friends (described as above!)
  • They gossiped about their MILs- How their MILs were never satisfied with whatever they did and how they always treated their daughters better.

In the conference-call they had last evening , one of the DIL friends proposed, "No matter what, starting this IWD, we will always behave our best, and try to treat our MILs even better than we treat our own Moms."
The four DIL friends had unanimously said, “k”.

DIL E was concerned how this month’s party would turn out. She remembered that four months ago, when the party was in E’s place, everyone had criticized DIL E indirectly viz. asking for extra salt & sugar in the food. DIL E had taken extra care in the preparation this time as she didn’t want any complaints.

But, despite her best attempts, one of the dishes got a bit burnt & DIL E discarded the burnt portion. But, the remaining food did have that smoky smell & taste. As there was no time to prepare another dish or order for home-delivery, DIL E was left with no choice but to serve it. This time all the senior women were so delighted and full of praise for her that DIL E was confused.

Her DIL friends also observed a drastic change in their MILs.

They didn’t know of the text conversation their MILs had the previous day-
One of the MIL friends proposed, "No matter what, starting this IWD, we will always behave our best, and try to treat our DILs even better than we treat our own daughters."
The four MIL friends had unanimously replied, “k”.

This post is a part of Write Over the Weekend, an initiative for Indian Bloggers by BlogAdda.

This time we’re aiming at making it more creative! Your post must contain a text conversation ending with someone saying “k”.

This post is for the Write Tribe Festival Of Words- Day 7 on the occasion of International Woman’s Day (IWD). The theme is ‘women’ & also the theme for IWD 2014 - ‘inspiring change’.

Yours Sincerely...

I wrote about them honestly, truly freely & frankly;

They lost all their senses & chided me furiously…

They said, “If you have nothing better to say, don’t say!”

I said, “But, you know that’s the truth & you only said ‘Satyameva Jayate*-

What happened to all your high ideals & the previous ‘acting’ display?”

*Satyameva Jayate-  Truth always wins

An Inspiring Story

This is for the Write Tribe Festival Of Words- Day 5- Inspiring Story

From my memory, I am sharing this Inspiring Story that I had read earlier:

In a small town, there was a meeting at the local Church. The grave issue was that there had been no rain in that part of the country. It was decided that every resident would assemble at the Church that Sunday and all would pray to the Lord for rain.

The young and old, everyone made it to the Church to pray for rain.

The Priest found that only one little girl had got an Umbrella to the venue.

When he asked her why she had got the Umbrella there, she convincingly replied, "When we pray for rain, it will rain & I don't like getting wet!"

Yes, it rained cats and dogs after everyone had prayed....

There is power in life. We just need to recognize the worth & hold on to our Umbrella!

I always remind myself this story whenever I want a certain outcome or if things are not going my way.

I feel we all have an Umbrella that can  shield us from all that we do not wish... All we need is to carry our Umbrella intact & safe and sound and use it wisely!

Here's my small poem :

Let us employ this Umbrella to say bye to negativity!
A positive outlook & faith works in any and every city!

Give faith a chance, true belief & confidence will do.
Success is sure in the Universe with Faith as glue!

Let us always light the candle of faith- that's sensible!
To be inspired is great; to inspire is incredible!

2 States - Book Review

Write Tribe's Day-4 Festival Of Words Topic- Book Review. The first book that came to my mind was Chetan Bhagat’s ‘2 States’!

The book has been filmed into a movie that is to be released next month. As a huge Bollywood fan, I have viewed its latest trailer/video! In fact, it has already notched up over 3 Million views in 6 days! This shows its popularity.
