United We Stand

N, E, W & S were four senior women who belonged to the four parts of India- North, East, West & South respectively, but stayed in the same neighborhood in a cosmopolitan city in Central India.
The four were best-friends, who had many points in common –

  • Their husbands worked in the same office
  • Each of them had 1 son & 1 daughter
  • Each of them had 1 Daughter-in-law (DIL)
  • Each of them loved watching daily soaps- Saas-Bahu TV-serials.
  • Each of them loved kitty-parties & planned a monthly party at one of their homes
  • They gossiped about their DILs- How their DILs were never good at whatever they did and how their daughters were better.
They decided to celebrate this month’s party at E’s place on 8th March – International Women’s Day (IWD).

N, E, W & S were four young women who belonged to the four parts of India- North, East, West & South respectively, but stayed in the same neighborhood.
The four were best-friends, who had many points in common –
  • Their Mothers-in-law (MIL) were best-friends (described as above!)
  • They gossiped about their MILs- How their MILs were never satisfied with whatever they did and how they always treated their daughters better.

In the conference-call they had last evening , one of the DIL friends proposed, "No matter what, starting this IWD, we will always behave our best, and try to treat our MILs even better than we treat our own Moms."
The four DIL friends had unanimously said, “k”.

DIL E was concerned how this month’s party would turn out. She remembered that four months ago, when the party was in E’s place, everyone had criticized DIL E indirectly viz. asking for extra salt & sugar in the food. DIL E had taken extra care in the preparation this time as she didn’t want any complaints.

But, despite her best attempts, one of the dishes got a bit burnt & DIL E discarded the burnt portion. But, the remaining food did have that smoky smell & taste. As there was no time to prepare another dish or order for home-delivery, DIL E was left with no choice but to serve it. This time all the senior women were so delighted and full of praise for her that DIL E was confused.

Her DIL friends also observed a drastic change in their MILs.

They didn’t know of the text conversation their MILs had the previous day-
One of the MIL friends proposed, "No matter what, starting this IWD, we will always behave our best, and try to treat our DILs even better than we treat our own daughters."
The four MIL friends had unanimously replied, “k”.

This time we’re aiming at making it more creative! Your post must contain a text conversation ending with someone saying “k”.
