The Race

“You will take part in the race?” they asked looking concerned.

“Of course, I will!” I answered cheerfully.

They burst out laughing uncontrollably.

I could not understand what the joke was.

While I was busy training for the race, they were busy laughing.

My friend Rosy had full faith in me.

“I love your passion, dedication and confidence, Ashok”, Rosy said as she gently stroked me.

Did she guess how much I loved her?

Rosy was the reason why I looked forward to races.

On the day of the race, she was dressed in a pretty pink gown.

Standing near the finish-line, she signaled the thumbs-up and victory sign to me.

I pledged to run my best race.

They were looking, but I didn’t care. I ran to her anyway.

Do Your Best And Win!

Winners never quit; Quitters never win.
Being a Winner (not Quitter) is the target.
The line that separates the two is thin like skin
Efforts will be rewarded; don't fret/forget.

Success is around the corner,
Focus on training; forget the pain.
Be patient & confident forever.
Believe & be ready to regain!

The Face Of The Race

As they clapped their hands in super-glee,
Their masks fell off and they looked ugly.
Photo Prompt- Magpie Tales
They were witnessing a rat-race happily,
Where contestants were matched unequally.

There was such a mix- short, tall, thin, burly-
Any sane person could see what I saw easily.

The Hero

They attacked him as he always pioneered changes and supported honesty and integrity.

When he made an important discovery that involved the top politicians, bureaucrats, and industrialists, they were desperate to hush him for life.

Utkala Dibasa

Odisha, a state in India, has a rich cultural heritage and ancient history.

1st April is celebrated as Utkala Dibasa. It is also called Odisha Dibasa or Odisha Day.
In Odia language, Dibasa means a day of celebration.

On this day in 1936, Odisha was created as a separate state. It was the first state created on linguistic basis.
Odisha was previously called Utkala. Utkala finds a mention in our National Anthem too.
On the occasion of Utkala Dibasa, buildings are lit and there are celebrations.

Here is the video of the song 'Bande Utkala Janani' (Hail Utkala Motherland)

The Lotus Girl

They made her the target of their bloody malicious game.
They bullied- unfair allegations, personal-attacks, insulted her name...

How To...

He was strolling in the lawn of his hotel,
When he saw the pretty girl on her cycle.

How to win over her love & her heart?
He thought & followed, hit by Cupid’s dart.

She entered a library and so did he.
How to catch her eye? Act crazy?

She Won...

A deft word-weaver loved to write prose & poetry.

“Are you a Doctor?” was her readers’ inquiry…

“You inspire!”, “Love your style!”, “You bring Smiles!”

Her network & fan-base soon spread across the miles!

One day, she decided she’d call it a day…

She was overwhelmed with the love & support that came her way…

This post has been written as  part of the WIN ’14 Activity at BlogAdda.

(This time our entry must contain the words- write, inspire & network.)

Tried to explore my creativity with this 55-words poem!
