Rasagola Day

Odisha is an Eastern state of India.

Despite it being 'the Soul of Incredible India', Odisha is yet to get credit for so many things- like the Rasagola.

Rasgulla/Rasagolla/Rasagola...spell it in anyway, prepare it in any shape or size or have it in any part of the world, the fact is that Odisha is the birthplace of the Rasagola.

There are many variations and innovations that are found in different parts of India. However, the most amazing, yummiest, finest, softest and delicious Rasagolas are found in Odisha. One has to come to Odisha and get the taste of mouthwatering varieties of Rasagolas.

In my post Kaleidoscopic Indian CultureI had compared Indian culture with Rasagola and had mentioned the great varieties of Rasagolas as follows:

How many of us know that Rasagolas have been offered for centuries in the Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri in Odisha?
Lord Jagannath Himself offers Rasagolas to His wife, Goddess MaaLakshmi to please her and gain permission to re-enter the Temple after His Rath Yatra outing with His siblings! While the Goddess allows Lord's elder brother, Lord Balabhadra, and sister Devi Subhadra to enter the Temple, She is angry with Her husband.
He finally gains entrance after He offers Her Rasagolas!
Proves the Rasagola magic!

Rath Yatra, Puri, Odisha
The above story shows- how the Rath Yatra is a Sweet Yatra!

This happens on the concluding day of the Rath Yatra- Niladri Bije.
Many aren't aware of this.

Only when people are informed, they will be aware and can give credit or appreciate or join in to celebrate.

For people to know or learn, there has to be information sharing & buzz!

In March this year, I came to learn about the Pakhala Dibasa thanks to @BBSRBuzz on Twitter.
#PakhalaDibasa is being celebrated on March 20th for the past couple of years.

Jay Panda's Tweet on Twitter
Pakhala is a cool dish of Odisha and the celebration of #PakhalaDibasa by Odias worldwide is a cool initiative too.

Just like the #PakhalaDibasa, let us have a #RasagolaDibasa or #RasagolaDay - a day to celebrate Rasagolas.

My Tweet on Twitter

Let us celebrate the maiden Rasagola Day this Niladri Bije that is on - July 30th 2015.
Thereafter, in the subsequent years, each year we can celebrate Rasagola Day.

July 30th is also the International Day of Friendship.
Celebrate friendship sweetly by sharing the King of Sweets- Rasagola!

Any and everyday is good enough to celebrate with Rasagolas!
Rath Yatra and Niladri Bije have historical significance. As they are based on tithi, the dates of these days vary each year. Setting a calendar date is easier to remember and participate.

Rasagola Day will celebrate/help the following:

1. Spread awareness that the Rasagola belongs to Odisha as it originated in Odisha.
(Apart from this, any other claim or information is false and wrong.)

2. Benefit from & also promote ongoing promotions- This is the auspicious month and year of the Nabakalebara. Central Government will be promoting Nabakalebara and Rath Yatra.
(There are many Rasagola lovers and Rath Yatra devotees worldwide!)

3. Inform all about Niladri Bije- the centuries-old celebration at Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri- where Lord Jagannath Himself offers Rasgolas to placate His wife.
(Attention: Husbands & others who need forgiveness! Rasagolas to the rescue!)

4. Increase knowledge & demand for the mind-boggling varieties of Odisha Rasagolas & also for Rasagolas made elsewhere.
(Every Rasagola & Rasagola-lover wins!)

5. Promote Odisha Tourism- How wonderful when (Foodie) tourists start making visits to Odisha just to try out the amazing varieties of Rasagolas in the birthplace of Rasagolas!
(The other delicious food, treats and sweets of Odisha will also gain focus.)

These are just a few advantages of Rasagola Day or #RasagolaDibasa.
What do you say?

This July 30th, let us celebrate the first #RasagolaDibasa.

Please share this info with all your friends and forward it to your groups in WhatsApp, email, and other Social Networking sites like FB, Twitter etc.

Cheers to Rasagola & to all Rasagola-lovers like us!
