Experts Of Odisha Handlooms and Handicrafts

I am deeply saddened to share that Odisha has lost key officials, who were treasure-houses and walking encyclopedias about Odisha handlooms and handicrafts-

Shri Devaraja Sahu and Shri Basanta Kumar Dash (B.K.Dash).

Both these late personalities were valuable experts, who had a wealth of knowledge about our Odisha handlooms and handicrafts.

Despite their position, expertise, and experience, they were so simple, humble, and approachable. They were a phone-call away. They listened and patiently answered. 

Accident At Cuttack - Justice For Victim

It is terrible to learn that my friend's father, Shri Sribatsa Acharya, has met with an accident at Cuttack.

Having suffered a head injury and fracture, his condition is serious.

He is admitted to Omm Suvam Hospital, Ranihat, Cuttack, and is undergoing treatment there.

Yesterday when I called up to enquire how Shri Acharya was recovering, my friend said that his head had been stitched up and leg had been plastered. 

There has been a substantial memory-loss with Shri Acharya presently being unable to identify people.

It is sad to see him suffering so badly while the person responsible for his plight is moving scot-free... 

Blessing in Disguise

She was rushing as she didn't want to miss her carpool to school.
"I have be on time for my exam".
While hurrying down the stairs, she tripped and fell.
"Mama! I have twisted my ankle and can't move my foot!"
"Never mind. You take rest today. All will be well. We'll visit the doctor", her mother assured.
"What about my exam?"
"But, you can't even walk with your sprained foot... By now your car must have left. And even if I leave you by alternate transport, you can't possibly walk up to your classroom that's on the third floor of your school."
Bearing the throbbing pain, she knew that her mother was right.

Safety Begins With Me

My hubby bought a bicycle for our daughter last week.

He also bought a helmet for her.

I appreciated this a great deal and understood his concern for our child's safety.

I remembered cricketer Phillip Hughes recent death then. Had he been wearing a helmet, he'd have been saved.

Also Minister Shri Gopinath Munde would have been safe had he worn his seat-belt...

I also thought of the myriad cases in which youngsters don't wear helmets, speed their bikes, flout traffic-rules...

In the Hindi movie- Andaz, the hero is happily singing a song and travelling on a bike with his girlfriend (both are not wearing helmets) when they meet with an accident and the hero dies...
