Dussehra

Indian Bloggers

Dussehra is a much-loved festival of India.
It celebrates the triumph of good over evil.

Goddess Durga had vanquished the 'Asura' or demon Mahishasura. After fighting with evil for 10 days and 9 nights on the tenth day, on Dussehra, Goddess Durga won. Durga Puja is celebrated with great pomp and grandeur especially in the eastern part of India.

As per the Ramayana, Ravana was the learned king of Lanka. He had knowledge of the Shastras, and played musical instrument too.  He was punished for kidnapping Lord Ram's wife, Devi Sita, and for his ego.
On Dussehra, Lord Ram had killed Ravana.
Lord Ram is lauded as 'Maryada Purusha' or the Ideal Man i.e. the best amongst men. But, He listened to the public and banished His pregnant wife, Devi Sita, when She needed His support the most...
The Ramayana was based in the Treta Yuga when Mata Sita questioned- Truth Wins?

Now it's Kali Yuga, and evil reigns.

Dasha Hara in Sanskrit means Dasha(10) & Hara(Removal) -
Removal of 10 bad qualities from within us.

Just like Ravana had 10 heads, we too have evils, perhaps more than 10...
No person is perfect.

We all have Ram (Angel) & Ravana (Devil) within us.
We need to choose whom we wanna make our boss!

Which bad qualities do we have?
🎆 Falsehood
🎆 Violence
🎆 Anger
🎆 Ingratitude
🎆 Attachment
🎆 Procrastination
🎆 Greed
🎆 Pride
🎆 Jealousy
🎆 Thieving
🎆 Selfishness
🎆 Injustice
🎆 Indiscipline
🎆 Manipulation
🎆 Cruelty
🎆 Ego
🎆 Laziness
🎆 Negativity
🎆 Lust
🎆 Rudeness
🎆 Gossip/Badmouthing
🎆 Stress
🎆 Enmity
🎆 Superstitions
🎆 Disloyalty
🎆 Insecurity
🎆 Infidelity
🎆 Unlawfulness
🎆 Corruption
🎆 Illiteracy
🎆 Terrorism
🎆 Disrespect
🎆 Intolerance
...
...
...
(The list can go on and on...)

To win, we need to replace the above words with their opposites in our life's dictionary.

Dussehra is also known as VijayaDashami which means 'Vijaya' or Victory on the 'Dashami' or 10th day of the Hindu month.
Can we pledge to win over at least Dus (10) bad qualities?
Then, we can embrace success and prosperity.
May all emerge victorious and WIN!

Happy Dussehra! God bless! 🙏

IndiSpire Topic-139The ten heads of Ravan (ten social evils) you would like to kill this Dassera. Atrocities on women? Judging beauty by skin colour? or some others? And in which order?

I love it when good WINS over evil, how about you? Please share in the comments below.
