Give Without Any Expectation

Giving is considered better than receiving.

"Be a giver" - my parents have always advised us.

They have been bright examples of giving without any expectation.

Someone needs something; then their needs are fulfilled by those who know.

Recently, we watched the Hindi blockbuster movie- 'Hanuman Ansh'.

I found it pretty awesom that Neeb Karori Baba knows eaxctly how many days the Doctor has been hungry!

He purchases several packs of Puri-Sabzi, and invites asks Doctor and his friend to eat well.

Being the clairvoyant that he is, he would have surely judged their negative feelings towards him; but that does not deter Baba from doing the good that he does. He feeds the two hungry men, inviting them to his home with great love and care.

The Muslim police officer, Nasir Khan, invites Baba to his home for food.

Baba's antics create a great impression, and he heartily invites him for a vegetarian meal that Baba readily accepts.

The one who hads been feeding people, agrees to be fed.
There is no expectation.

The world belongs to animals too.

Baba is found speaking to animals, and understands their language.

Some feed animals as they love them.

In the above poster, it is mentioned in Hindi- "Dete raho, bina yeh soche ki badle mein kya milega"-
The English meaning of these words- "Keep giving, without thinking about what you will get in return."

Some people keep pets, and it is expected that they take good care of them, and give them attention just like they do to their family-members and friends.

Street dogs are served food by many.

During Covid 19, Odisha Government served Chicken Biryani to stray dogs! Dogs do not pay tax, and yet they got to enjoy the food served using taxpayers' money.

Street dogs have proved to be a nuisance, having attacked and mauled several innocent kids and people to death.

When they are fed by kind people, the latter never imagine the violence or atrocities inflicted by the same creatures.

The Supreme Court of India had even given an order to remove street dogs from the streets, and ensure safety of pedestricians and citizens.

Some other devout humans feed animals and birds, just because their astrologers/advisers/well-wishers have asked them too.

Feed the creatures- say cow or crow etc, and 'x', 'y', 'z' issues will get solved.

Then, in this case, the expectation is the solution- the outcome of their action!

They expect the expected!

In the USA, there are "Buy Nothing" groups for some areas.

The members give away things that they no longer need or use.

Some items like cosmetics etc. have a "use-by" or "best before" date.

Those things can be used by those who need, and can use.

Giving is a noble activity.

Some give and click images and videos of the act to share on social media.

It can no doubt create a feel-good environment and inspire others to join the Giving movement.

Some others give anonymously; and help the needy secretly without advertisement.

As Shree Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita, He judges actions of people by their intention.

What is the purpose of your giving act?

Kindness/Empathy OR Showoff/self-branding OR Expectations/Returns?

Time to introspect and get the giving intention right.

What do you say? Are you a giver?
