We had lost him on this date in 2015. It was the tithi of Suna Besha of the Ratha Jatra.

Suna Besha is an auspicious day when the deities are dressed in golden attire.

Dr. Kalam was a highly knowledgeable and inspiring personality. This Missile Man of India was a true karmaveer. He breathed his last after collapsing while giving a lecture in a hall full of students.

In the video shared in the following tweet, Dr. Kalam is handing over National Award to the winners of the Handicrafts category in 2004.

In the above video, we can see some artists/artisans including Pattachitra artist Shri Niranjan Moharana, who is receiving his National Award from Dr. Kalam.
Shri Moharana is based in Danda Sahi, Chandanpur, Puri district, Odisha, India.

Puri district has amazing arts and crafts most of which are linked with the Shree Jagannatha Temple, Puri.
Pattachitra is an ancient art of Odisha.
"Orissa Pattachitra" has the Geographical Indication (GI) tag.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam will continue to inspire generations to come.
Many of his quotes are much-loved.

The video in the tweet below has some of Dr. Kalam's quotes-

  1. He entered the Rashtra Bhawan with 2 suitcases and left that place with the same 2 suitcases. A lady President, PP, entered with one truck load and left with 3 truck loads.

Your words mean a lot to me.
