The place of attraction was crowded.

She was walking on the road when there was a loud gunshot.
The crowd went berserk.
Luckily, she hopped into a shop.
The shopkeeper quickly closed the door.
In his deep voice, he said something in the local language.
She gestured that she did not understand.
"Spanish? French? Russian?" he asked.
She knew none of those foreign languages!
"You know English/Hindi?"
"Yes, of course!" she said.
"Great! Don't worry," he assured.
"Gunshots are normal in this part of the world. Have a nice trip."

ReplyDeleteGood for her to have found a bit of sanctuary, even in the madness. And the lesson is, that even in places of chaos, there will be good people. Look for the helpers, as they say here. And if possible, be a helper.

Oh my goodness, if I didn't speak the language and heard a gunshot I think I'd go into full-on panic mode.
