The marital bridge beckoned right in front.
She still mindfully chose to bear the brunt.
She took the tough road, under society's glare;
To again bridge the bridge, little did she care!

They advised her to go back with trust-
"Love, faith, & understanding are a must!"
"Cross the bridge, go with the flow & sacrifice."
"Smile & reconcile your duty & destiny & compromise."
"Forget the past, forgive them, & be free"-
"Adjust, give another chance to him & his family."
She had already moved enough mountains-
She consciously removed the marriage chains.
The expectations were ripe for her to save-
The marital bonds- protecting them like a slave.
Wounded & shrouded in nightmares galore-
She had shunned their red carpet & door.
Subject to humiliation, & violence, severe,
The weight of torture & worthlessness to bear;
Terribly confused, burdened, resentful, & sad,
She screamed, "Why should my life be so bad?"
She decided to take a stand & stay away from hell-
No longer tolerating more fractures in her soul & shell.
As her own ship's captain, she had power & command!
She grew new wings, confidently conquering new land.
What I will never understand (though they say that I'm wise)-
Why are women always blamed & asked to adjust & compromise?

Much in common, I think. No matter what a husband does, it seems up to
ReplyDeletethe wife to compromise until she has nothing left of herself.
Removing the chains, a wise effort

Failed relationships always leave us with regrets but failed marriages more so.
ReplyDeleteWe live in a patriarchal society so the onus of making a marriage work, is always on the women.
Happy it sounds like she arose stronger than before in the end. I’m not sure why women are often blamed for staying in abusive relationships. People should instead focus on teaching not to abuse.
