The Selfish Helper

She had to face challenges to fulfill self wish.

They had a problem & labelled her- SELFISH.

All she had done was to take some personal time-

They branded her a thief, heaping her with grime.

When she "used" her own time to do tasks for them,

All was well when she sported their "helper" emblem!

There was no issue when her time was spent this way.

But, selfish when she decided her time to have a say!

When their interests were served, everything was great!

When she "wasted" her time & took herself to a date,

All hell broke loose & though she never got paid in kind,

"The Selfish Helper" was a villain out of her mind!

Pray, say- Who was being "selfish" in this case?

Those for whom everything was in order & in place?

Or who dedicatedly served them with no due credit?

The latter was "the selfish helper," helping self bit by bit!

Being a selfish helper for oneself is okay, I think.

How can you write using a pen that has no ink?

Pouring from a teapot that has no tea for you?

Who does the filling & refilling & takes your view?

What is over is gone, and no one can change.

We can only act to influence what's in our range.

She started over, like a fresh wildflower over again,

She would be reborn & bloom whether sun or rain.

Would you do this again and again?

Would you still think & care for your gain?

Would you serve a generous helping for self?

Would you be a selfish helper & do self help?
