5 Reasons Why We Must Save Photos In Online Albums

I love clicking photographs.
I feel I am capturing memories.
However, I rarely use or share such photographs. They largely remain confined to my digital device's memory and are housed in privacy.
I have used a few for posting to my blog, but the vast majority remain stored and scarcely get a double look, thereby defeating the purpose why they were clicked.

You may wonder- why don't I post my photographs online?
Like everyone else, even I can upload to photo-sharing social media sites like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or to the available online photo-albums, right?
The reality is - my profile photo has been the same over the years across Twitter, FB, Blog etc!
How private can one be in this age of social media when someone or the other is tagging you?!
Who or what is stopping me from sharing pics and tagging others?

Over the past few months, I have been considering some reasons why we must save our photos in online albums:

How To Recover Deleted Photos From Android Phone?

Last month, I discovered to my shock and dismay that all the photographs and videos in the 'Gallery' & 'Camera-roll' on my Android Phone were missing. But, the other folders like Screenshots etc. were intact.

I was back from a trip where I had clicked many pics and captured several videos. My phone's memory was almost full. I started getting warning messages. Then, one fine day, they had all disappeared...

I have two mobile phones and as the memory of one phone was already full, I had used this Android phone to save photos especially of the last half of my trip. I felt terrible to find those pictures along with pics taken in the last few months were missing. Perhaps, it is a way in which the Android phone unburdens itself and automatically frees memory by simply deleting the 'Gallery' data?

I was midway in my second April #AToZChallenge #BlogchatterA2Z in which I was writing A to Z posts about Odisha, India- including the travel places I had visited.
My mind was heavy as I had documented my trip by clicking pictures of sign-boards and information-boards. Now, how would I write my posts?

'Pictures speak more than a thousand words'.

"Those pics are important. I have to retrieve them." I requested myself to go for Mission Photos Recovery.

I contacted the phone's registered service-centre. They refused saying that they can only update the phone's software that would erase my existing data.

I checked with the other phone-service stores. The moment they heard that pics were lost from the 'Gallery' i.e. the internal phone memory, they shook their head and expressed their inability. Had the data been lost/deleted from external storage like SD card, they could have attempted to be saviour.

How to restore/recover/retrieve deleted pictures?

I started searching online for help.

Responsibility means many things to many people.
What is responsibility for me, may not be for you.

There is no doubt that we all have responsibilities.
We all have social responsibilities too.
As Bloggers, this is more pronounced as we have a say and a reach.

Blogging and responsibility are connected.
When we are Blogging, we are in a position for making a choice to blog.
In a way, Blogging is at the cost of something else...
In my case, I have sacrificed, ignored or postponed other responsibilities just so that I can blog!

Blogging is a responsible activity.
Bloggers do have responsibilities.

As per my views, the following are some of the responsibilities of Bloggers:

1. Correct Info- Bloggers need to share correct facts, data etc. in their Blog. They need to cross-check and verify the information before posting.
In case they have shared any misleading or incorrect statements, info or comments, on being informed, they should update their blog.

2. Due Credit to Sources- Bloggers must accord proper credit to the sources. Pics, quotes, research data etc must be ably supported with links to the original idea-proponents.

Time to read, but none for commenting?
Missing your words that are amazing!

Love to share stories, poems & a bit of creativity.
But, hate it when there are no comments- a pity!
Many 'Comments'- Blogger's wildest dream come true!
But, paucity of comments makes writers feel blue!

Though many read posts (Blog's stats reveal!),
Writing a comment is quite another deal!
The reasons of silence may be strange or varied-
Endeavoring to list some here for you to read!

Friend To Foe To Friend?

Despite being new to blogging, I won prizes.

One of my Social-Media 'friends' became my foe as she publicly accused me of plagiarism- that I have copied her ideas!

I privately tried to reason it out with her that I never copy.

She didn’t believe me & continued her allegations that affected my credibility.

How To Create Menu Tabs In Blogger Blog

Three months ago, I was delighted to receive the following comment from a Blogger-friend:

"I am fascinated with your blog design. I want to do something with categorizing my blog posts and have them in a menu like you have on top of your blog. Do you have tutorial on how you set up categories? I am really interested in streamlining my blogging. Any tips you can give will be appreciated."- Mary Hill

I had shared the info with Mary via email.
Today when I received a similar query from another Blogger-friend, who wants to display the following Tabs on her Blog just like my Blog:

Poetry
Fiction
Travel
Personal
Social
Movies
Food

I decided it to share the "How To" info via my Blog :)

1. First, we need to add the required Labels in all the posts published in our Blog.
For example, if our post is about Travel, then we need to add Travel as a Label by editing our post.
Similarly for the other posts related to Movies, Fiction, Poetry etc.

My First Interview As A Blogger or Freelance Writer

I was pleasantly surprised and felt honored when Gowardhan Doddi contacted me wanting to feature my interview on their site- careerteacher.in -:

"Your blog is highly interesting ! I understand you are very passionate about writing. We want to have your interview."

Of course, I am very passionate about writing! I have been writing from my school days. We all write at school, right? :D

I was seriously writing stories & poems & sending with hopes for publication. My dream to get "published" has kept me going...

Though I have been into freelance-writing for long, I have started Blogging two years ago. I consider myself a newbie & a learner. There are far more experienced and very famous Bloggers in India & in the world.

Blogspot To Own Domain Name

I had started my Blog two years ago without much info about Blogging.

Before Blogging, I had got many articles, stories, poems etc published in the leading magazines and newspapers.

I am aware of the kind of situation one has to go through to ensure that a written-work gets published!

But, in Blogging, one just has to express one's thoughts by typing them out & then hit Publish!

Hey Presto! We have published our posts in Cyberspace!

As I shared in the first sentence of this post, I had no clue about the finer-details about Blogging (even now I don't know much & am still learning, but at least I know a bit more than I knew 2 years ago!)!

I opened a Blog in Blogger that too because of my sister's insistence & persistence!

Some Confessions Of A Blogaholic

Blogaholic refers to one who loves Blogging & her/his Blog.

Here the Blogaholic is yours truly.

Ever since I have started Blogging seriously, I have been doing crazy things... more so in the recent past.

The following are half a dozen Confessions of this Blogaholic!

1. Everything appears like a story to me, with the potential to make it BIG & get featured on my super Blog! When I read the newspaper or watch the news, I am no longer that helpless or passive... Blogging is cathartic & therapeutic.

2. Blogging makes me feel powerful. My mind is always active and has a say. I express through my Blog and also via fellow-Bloggers' posts.

I feel free to express whatever I wish & share my views on the good and the not-so-good topics.

a) When I read about the tilting of the Train by passengers to free a man whose leg had got trapped between the carriage & the platform in Perth, Australia, I mentally picked this inspiring incident as a future-topic for my Blog.

b) Some days later, it was heart-touching when I read about the Pune incident where the public got together to push a bus & rescue two accident-victims- young boys who were trapped under the bus.

Life Before & With IndiBlogger

I signed up for my Blog & joined Blogging in August 2012.

I joined IndiBlogger and other Blogging sites like BlogAdda 11 months ago in July 2013.

Then:
My Blog had less than 10 Posts, less than 10 Followers, less than 10 Comments & less than 1000 Page-Views.

Now:
Just yesterday it has clocked 1,00,000 Page-Views!
