The marital bridge beckoned right in front.

She still mindfully chose to bear the brunt.

She took the tough road, under society's glare;

To again bridge the bridge, little did she care!

How A Son India Got Mother Arrested And Saved A Tribal Woman

We were/are rejoicing that a highly-qualified, experienced, and competent “Tribal Woman”, Droupadi Murmu Madam, has now been elected as our nation’s President, (More in my posts- Vocal For Local - President Droupadi Murmu, President Droupadi Murmu - Tribal Woman and More,  Droupadi Murmu – Much More Than Her Tribal Woman Identity).

But, it is shocking to see the gross treatment meted out to another tribal woman, a domestic help named Sunita.

The former’s struggles and accomplishments are awe-inspiring; the latter’s experiences are numbingly jaw-dropping.

While so many citizens hailed and celebrated Murmu Madam’s selection and election, many voices express their stern condemnation to Sunita’s ordeal caused by her employer, Seema Patra.

Who is Seema Patra?

“Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” - a seemingly strong woman, who supposedly stands up for the causes of women, correct?

Nirbhaya Case Justice #NirbhayaNyayDivas

On March 20, 2020, four animals were hanged at Tihar Jail. Calling them ‘animals’ is actually an insult to the animal species. As our motherland was relieved of the burden of the four, we breathed a sigh of relief that FINALLY there’s closure to the Nirbhaya Case...
Bharat Mata, Nirbhaya’s parents, Nirbhaya’s lawyer, and Nirbhaya Case followers & supporters now have reason to rejoice.
Efforts have borne fruit. Justice was delayed, but not denied.
March 20 is special as we celebrate the "International Day of Happiness" & Pakhala Dibasa too.

On Spring Equinox, the first day of Spring, we got the happy news FINALLY.
The strong crowd outside the jail cheered.

For us, henceforth the date will also be memorable as - #NirbhayaNyayDivas i.e. the day to commemorate justice for Nirbhaya.
From the past 7 years, we have been thinking why this ‘rarest of rare’ case of 2012 for which capital punishment had been announced in 2013, and that had extensive media coverage, public anger & pressure, law & fast-track court, & President’s support, was taking so long?
Why were the rapists & their lawyers given so many chances to feel victorious time and again?
Why were they allowed to waste precious time of the court?

Why were the dates shifted & new dates getting fixed?

Why new petitions were allowed to be filed by their lawyers again & again?

Who gave the money & support for the rapists’ case? Don’t those people deserve punishment too for siding up with the devils?

Women, Violence And Silence

It is said, 'Silence is golden'.
But, is it really?

Silence may be interpreted in a different way When You Say Nothing At All...

I feel- 'Silence Feeds The Violence'.
Violence is not right. Lord Krishna has said in the Gita that those who suffer injustice are greater culprits than those who commit injustice.

When something terrible is happening, why are people silent-onlookers, rather than protesting?

I have shared this in my poem- 'India Needs Bravehearts'.

For example, if a man is slapping/beating a woman in public, people would rather 'watch the fun',  click photos or take videos, rather than raise their voice or come to the rescue of the damsel-in-distress.

Silence Feeds The Violence

They find you- the woman- very weak & an easy target to pick,
Who can be made to dance to their favourite music!
They make you do this & that & to be their 24X7 slave!
You carry the trauma, humiliation & violence to your grave.

They grope emotionally & physically; you bear in silence.
Being the society's scapegoat to no woman makes sense.
A raped woman has no respect in our moral society
You think- 'What'll people say', 'Who'll marry me?'

You had worn a mini-skirt or were covered from head-to-toe,
The result was still the same- what all got to know.
Whatever happened wasn't your fault or invitation at all.
You are the unfortunate 'victim' whose case was judged by all.

The deep cuts, bites, bruises, kicks, tell the real sad story,
Your silence, smile, 'status' adds to the false glory,
Your identity, existence & reasoning is threatened & pained,
You want to scream & tell your tale, but feel chained...
