Kali Jai Prasad. 

No, not three different names.

It's my name. 

Bapa and Maa had lovingly named me as the offering or gift of Goddess Kalijai.

Kalijai island is located in the Chilika Lake in Odisha. It has a temple dedicated to Goddess Kalijai. 

Not wanting to name me as "Kalijai Prasad", they gave a space between Kali & Jai! 

Isn't it amazing what a little bit of space can do!

However, if you find my name too long or old-fashioned, you can just call me by my nickname- "Jai".

We stay near Lake Chilika. 

Bapa often says that they had nothing before I came into their life.

I brought them luck. His seafood business started flourishing. 

Veeru- Veerendra Prasad- was born five years later. 

Veerendra means 'brave and noble man.'

Diwali With Family

Diwali is an important festival of India, our nation.
Diwali is called the "Festival of Lights"as there's illumination.

 

During celebrations it is sad to be away from one's family.
Festivals are for get-together & to enjoy together happily!

Wishing over phone or through emails or SMS is not as much fun...
Everyone dreams of real meetings & being a part of the celebration.

A Diwali Meeting is much better than an SMS Greeting-
One is real & face-to-face; while the other is in digital space! :)

One week ago, our WhatsApp Family group got the following message from my Brother-in-law (BIL) that made us think.

"Major Mukund of 44 Rashtriy Rifles laid down his life fighting terrorists at Shopian Kashmir.... While the whole nation gripped in election fever and busy with IPL matches please pay homage to this brave soldier ........ Mukund"

The Most PAUSitive Person-II

This Post is more about my Papa- the most POSITIVE Person I know. I discussed how he likes and upholds the clean-shaven look in my Post- The Most PAUSitive Person-I

Ever since I was small, I have always seen Papa and all my uncles clean-shaven.

As both my Paternal & Maternal sides of my family are pretty large, there are many members. All males are clean-shaven!

The only time when I have seen the male-family-members with stubble is when there is a death in the family.

As per our custom, we do not have to cut anything- no hair, nails etc during the mourning period of 10 days.

Ever since I know, I always hate a death…
