Whatever I say or do for you is just not right,
Everything about me fills you with spite.
You may wish me away, but I'm always found!
As you think of me even when I'm not around!
Are you still holding a grudge against me?
You are letting me live in your head rent-free!
Let go the grudge; be angry no more,
Be generous & open your mind's door.
Bid goodbye to the guest grudges you hold,
To life, welcome peace & happiness manifold!
Are you holding a grudge against anyone? What is your experience with grudges?

Okay, so you hate me & my ways totally,
When I'm there, you wish I wasn't actually! You may wish me away, but I'm always found!
As you think of me even when I'm not around!
Are you still holding a grudge against me?
You are letting me live in your head rent-free!

I try not to hold grudges. They take up too much energy. It is just easier to let go and let bygones be bygones.
ReplyDeleteWell said, Morgan. Why rake up skeletons & seep energy?
DeleteGrudges are not for me. Let go and start again. Off you go!
ReplyDeleteAnother day in Amble Bay!
True Keith.
DeleteWhy old grudges in fresh beginning? Restart!
Life is too short for grudges - they hurt the person holding them way more than they person they are held against
ReplyDeleteDebbie
Absolutely. Everyone ought to realize this before it's too late, Debbie.
DeleteAlthough it is a great horror movie (have you seen The Grudge?), holding grudges, or unforgiveness. is so poisonous. The person most affected by it is the holder of the grudge. imo holding grudges is dumb and injurious to your health. Unforgiveness is a prison. Good post. I totally agree
ReplyDeleteHaven't watched the movie, Cairns. I stay away from horror genre :)
DeleteHolding grudges is indeed injurious & can affect our health.
We should note this message for this World Health Day.
I do hold grudge and find forgiving tough. But, your words holds true and soothes the senses.
ReplyDeleteForgiveness is tough. So is forgetting.
DeleteMost of us find it difficult.
But, we need to be at peace, Vishal.
Great lines. One can easily connect with them.
ReplyDeleteThanks Paresh :)
DeleteI forgive but I also make sure that I learn to avoid similar people and situations. Thanks for joining us for #FridayReflections, Anita.
ReplyDeleteThat's putting our learning from past bad experiences to good use, Corinne. We certainly don't want repetition...
DeleteTheoretically I am in total agreement. Grudges give negative thoughts and feelings that do us more harm than good. Practically letting go is difficult though not impossible
ReplyDeletehttp://jaishwrites.blogspot.sg/2017/04/atozchallenge-grass-green-and-greece.html
Indeed. We need to let go of the negativity.
DeleteAgree with you that it's tough but possible.
I can never hold a grudge for very long....and can go to any extent to make up with the people important to me.

Radhika, nice that you say bye to grudges & hi to loved ones.
DeleteThere are some who deserve them.. but no I don't because they only hurt me and that I don't want to 'give' to those persons, I don't allow them to determine how I feel
ReplyDeleteHave a nice ABC-day / -week

There are many who hurt us. But, holding grudges against them means we end up hurting ourselves.
DeleteGreat that you don't give them the power to control you, Melody.
Grudges take up your postitve energy. I try best to avoid it! Wise words!

Yes, Shalz. Avoiding them is smart!
DeleteExactly! Holding a grudge drains our energy unlike anything! It's better to just say a mental "Go to hell!" and then carry on with our lives.
ReplyDeleteHow do you people manage to make it rhyme?
Happy AtoZing!
Chicky @ www.mysteriouskaddu.com
Agree with you, Chicky! "Mental Go to hell" is meting out the silent treatment- just say it & forget it & carry on :)
DeleteFor me, rhyming is fun & an important part of my Theme- 'Poems about life' in this challenge :)
I want to say I don't hold grudges but sadly life has kind of worn me down. Constantly being cheated kind of left it's mark on me.
ReplyDeleteThat's the story of life & its games. We all are getting marked by it...
Deletevery nice write up I like your way with words, it is beautifully penned. you are right holding grudges are harmful for one self. Letting go is the best thing. inviting you to visit my short stories for #atozchallenge https://smitasangle.wordpress.com/2017/04/08/b-is-for-bangles-a-tale-of-a-bride-dowry-atozchallenge/
ReplyDeleteThanks for your maiden visit & for your nice words, Smita :)
DeleteThese are wonderful ways to be happy and live a peaceful life. Well written.
ReplyDeleteHope we recognize the ways & be happy & peaceful, Rajlakshmi.
DeleteThanks :)
There is a saying "Holding a grudge is like being stung to death by one bee." (Or something like that.)
ReplyDeleteI usually don't hold a grudge... then there times it is easier said than done.

Who would like to be stung by grudges?
DeleteNot holding grudges is indeed easier said than done, Trudy!
I have walked away from holding grudges. Not yet controlled getting mad about it instantaneously but yes grown wiser to not hold the pain and burn oneself. Beautifully penned
ReplyDeleteI stopped by from the #atozchallenge. I wrote on G for goals, guilt and grief ! Here are the two most inspirational yet sensible ideas that appealed to me

Getting wiser is wonderful, Archana!
DeleteThanks for sharing & for your appreciation :)
Well, no matter how much we know that it is bad to hold grudges, we often succumb to it due to certain circumstances. Some tendencies die hard.
ReplyDeleteTrue Vinodini.
DeleteOld habits die hard. Better to cultivate what is worthy of our time & mental peace.
You are right that we shouldn't hold grudges. I forgive but I don't forget. I learn my lessons from such situations.
ReplyDeleteForgetting would have made things simpler after we have learned lessons. But, unfortunately, no such mechanism is available, Parul...
DeleteForgiveness and letting go of grudges can be hard but is so much better for you. WeekendsInMaine
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!
DeleteNice poems. I like to think that I don't hold a grudege, but then something will trigger a memory and I will realize I haven't let it go as thoroughly as I had thought. Donna from Girl Who Reads
ReplyDeleteIt happens, Donna. Akin to salt over wound...
DeleteOnly if we could forget...Life would be peaceful.
It's easy to say things like 'let bygones be bygones'. The fact of the matter is that when someone you trusted a lot unconditionally betrays you, you will certainly hold the grudge for years together. Until you get busy or you are able to bypass the setback and go way ahead of the perpetrator.
ReplyDeleteDo drop by mine.

Yes true. It's tough to set matters right after trust is breached.
DeleteBut, time is the healing factor.
Success and being busy with work in yhe present are great solutions to get over past trauma.
I try not to hold grudges, but sometimes we are so emotionally hurt that some corner of our being we hold a small grudge against the person who hurt us right?
ReplyDeleteGreat poem. I agree grudges are poisonous. Do let it go.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, of course, but it took a long time to learn that.

I always liked that quote. Unfortunately, my mother lived rent free in my head most of my life. Thankfully, that's over now. If you let someone get to you, that means they win. No good at all! ☺
