The party was on in full swing.
Many guests had been invited.
Why did he have the empty feeling?
He was quiet though much was unsaid.
There was decoration, food and fun.
Free drinks flowed; the spirits were high!
Many indulged in animated discussion!
All fake smiles & superficiality made him sigh.
Woman With Flowered Hat- Jean Dupas |
Then, he saw an angel waltz in gracefully-
The woman with flowered hat looked bright!
Ethereal beauty & fragrance captivated him fully!
The party seemed right with love at first sight!
Their meeting was a silver lining they got to know-
The light and love would forever glow.

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your use of "indulged." It felt like rhyme with "flowed".
ReplyDeleteI love it. Yes, it sometimes happens that way!
ReplyDeleteWho wouldn't love it when a gorgeous woman in a flowered hat waltzed into a boring party?? I enjoyed your poem.

Nice story! Reminds me of a time my late husband and I saw a frail-looking old lady in the street, wearing a huge. beautiful flowered hat. We complimented her on it and she was so pleased. She had made it herself!
ReplyDeleteMy kind of story poem. If you don't get "out there" you could miss that perfect opportunity.
ReplyDeletep.s. I'm Anonymous. Also, nice to see you at dVerse, Anita!
DeleteFalling in love is the best silver lining
ReplyDeleteThat's the dream isn't it... the right person walks into a room and...life changes!
ReplyDeleteYou never can tell. I wasn't looking for Mrs. Jim when she showed up at a singles dinner, my roommates girl friend had convinced Mrs. Jim to stay as I might come. There's a nice long story, 51 years to follow.
