Companion


She cooked the choicest food - his favorite dishes and waited for him to come for lunch.


When he came, she served him with love and gave him company by talking nineteen-to-the-dozen about so many events that had happened in his absence.

He never said a word in reply while he polished off all the contents of his plate and left for office.

Secretly, he wished for the evening when he would be back at home for dinner and for his wife & companion's incessant chatter...

He loved her food & loved her voice & loved to hear her speak...

    All the things unsaid makes me sad for the companion, but I suppose this could be true love, the kind he doesn't need to express. Loved how much your little story made me wonder...

      Very true, Priya. Even I wondered when I saw that couple... Yes, it was true love till death did them apart.
      I believe that love should find some expression. What's life without communication? One person talks a lot & from the other there's no reciprocation! Sad :(

    There's definitely something you're not telling us about the way he actually feelings about his "chatterbox" of a wife/companion. "YES DEAR" he said for the umpteenth time since he started to eat his, not even paying attention to what she had said or asked.
