I
tried to tune in to the All-India-Radio in the dark room where I was locked.
The Tea-boy had smuggled it for me.
I heard the breaking-news:
“Government
agrees to free the terrorist, Gul Khan, in exchange for Dr.Sabat.”
“What?
That wanted criminal will be released just so that I can be saved? Not fair!”
I
was alarmed and felt terribly miserable. Earlier, I had read about how dozens
of soldiers had sacrificed their lives in nabbing Gul Khan. I remembered their kids’
faces… I plotted my daring escape from the terrorists!
I knew it was my last day there...
(Introduced in February 2013 on Everyday Gyaan – an invitation, a prompt, a linky. Write exactly a 100 words on the prompt and publish it on your blog – a story, a poem, a mini-essay.)
Good one Anita!
ReplyDeleteThanks Indrani! :)
Deleteshort and sweet :)
ReplyDeleteYes, Alok! Sweet as hopefully the heroine saves herself!
Deletegood one Anita. No terrorist should be released in exchange for kidnap demands.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kalpana.
DeleteI agree. It pains me a lot to see all the efforts in nabbing criminals literally going waste when they are released to meet demands...
Scary, Anita! :D
ReplyDeleteNot so after the heroic escape & freedom from the terrorists, Vidya! :)

DeleteYes, the protagonist doesn't want to be saved as an exhange-offer...Thus, the planning for escape...
OOoo Nice! It would be cool if you could write another story about his escape. Loved the ending. ♥
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea, Kathy! Thanks! Yes, 'what happens next' can form the plot of another story. But, it'll be tougher than smuggling a Radio! :)
