"These lamps are
exquisite!"
Lisa admired the old
lamps that she found in the attic.
"These were used by
your grandparents. They didn’t have electricity in those days..." Lisa's
mother answered.
Lisa's face lit
up!
"Could we please
have lamp-light dinner tonight, mother?" Lisa proposed.
"First, let’s check
if these are still functional", her mother said.

The old oil in the attic served its purpose well.
The lamps shone bright.
The light fell on their
faces.
The door-bell rang
suddenly.
“We see no lights today.
Is everything okay?” Their neighbours asked.
"Please join us for
Lamp-light dinner!" Lisa’s mother offered.

ReplyDeleteWow! The only time we had candle and lamp-light dinner was in my school days, when the power used to go off. Now we have an inverter. Now we realise the charm of candle / lamp-light dinner. Should do that.
ReplyDeleteOne of my neighbours does drop by.
Nice to have neighbours like that, pretty rare these days!

There is a lot of fun in your story of the family coming together to remind themselves of their grandparents past times.

ReplyDeleteAwww I love this.
